My passion for nutrition and healthy living started in childhood, nurtured by my mom’s and grandma's love of cooking. Although my first college degree was in Computer Science, in my heart I wanted to be a chef. So, I returned to school to follow my true calling - food and nutrition. Today I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and combine my love of cooking with science-based knowledge.

After having my daughter, I discovered an equal passion for pediatrics and diabetes management. I found great fulfillment teaching children and families how food, exercise and medication affect diabetes. I love solving this nutritional puzzle, empowering people to understand their bodies and make healthy choices.

“I was really upset about having Diabetes and I wanted to get off meds!
So, I changed my eating habits (i.e. eating lots of salads, stopped the pasta, etc.) and started exercising almost every day.
I am off medications and I’ve lost over 15 pounds.”

My own journey as a cancer survivor gave me time to reflect and redefine my purpose. That led me to launch Teaching Fenix Cafe, with the mission of ‘Planting Seeds of Lifestyle Changes One Recipe at a Time.’ My career has followed an unexpected but fulfilling path guided by my lifelong passions for cooking, nutrition, teaching, and empowering people to live healthy lives.
